IDP software comparison: the alternatives for document data extraction
Updated September 2026
This page compares the Intelligent Document Processing software you most often come across when looking for an alternative to read invoices, delivery notes, orders and contracts. Vendors are grouped into seven categories and described against the same criteria, using only information published on their official pages.
Information based on public data available on 25 September 2026, taken from the vendors' official pages listed below. Products and prices can change: always check on the vendor's website. Data Alchemy is an interested party in this comparison. To report a correction, write to us from the contact page.
Five criteria for comparing different IDP software
Products built for different needs cannot be compared with a score. For each vendor we report the facts that change the choice in practice; where the source says nothing, we say so.
1. Pricing unit
Do you pay per page, per document, per workflow block or through a licence? With multi-page documents (a 4-page delivery note, a 20-page contract) the unit matters as much as the figure. We show figures only when published on the vendor's official pricing page.
2. Validation against the ERP
Is the extracted data checked against customer, supplier and product master data in your ERP before it is posted, or does it arrive exactly as read from the document?
3. Italian ERPs
Which ERPs the vendor names: Zucchetti, TeamSystem and the other ERPs widespread in Italy, as well as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Oracle NetSuite.
4. Email handling
Many documents arrive by email. It matters whether mailboxes are read in the vendor's cloud or by a service installed at the customer's premises, where mailboxes and credentials stay.
5. AI engine and hosting
Which model reads the documents, whether you can choose it, and where data is hosted and processed. We report regions and installation options as stated by each vendor.
IDP software compared, category by category
In each table Data Alchemy is in the first row, followed by the vendors in the category. Some vendors appear in more than one category. Tables scroll horizontally; the sources for every row are listed at the end of the section.

Data Alchemy in the comparison: the facts
Data Alchemy (CDBKR Srl, based in Bologna) is an IDP platform for Italian companies that want to read several document types, validate them against ERP data and write them into the ERP or Salesforce, paying per document rather than per page. These are the same matrix entries, for Data Alchemy:
Pricing model
Licence (Basic, Business, Enterprise) plus pay-as-you-go credits: 1 credit = 1 document, whatever its number of pages; quote on request
Validation against the ERP
Yes: external fields and remote validation on ERP data (Business and Enterprise)
Italian ERPs
Zucchetti and TeamSystem, plus SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Oracle NetSuite; native Salesforce with Order Dispatcher (Enterprise)
Email handling
Mail service installed at the customer's premises (on-premise): mailboxes and credentials stay in your infrastructure (Business and Enterprise)
AI engine
One engine per document model: Claude (by default), GPT, Data Alchemy AI on its own servers and GPUs in Italy, or a compatible model through the European providers Scaleway and Regolo.ai
Hosting and data residency
Platform on Scaleway, primary site in Milan and a secondary European site. With Data Alchemy AI and the European providers, processing stays in Europe; with Claude and GPT, documents are processed by the respective providers under a DPA
On precision: we state 99.8% accuracy (measured with Claude); no figure is published for the other engines. We also support FatturaPA/XML SdI e-invoices.
When Data Alchemy isn't the right fit
There are real cases where another product category fits better. We list them because a comparison is there to help you choose well, not just to choose us.
High volumes of one-page documents, API only
If a development team needs to process large volumes of single-page documents and integrate them into its own software, a per-page API with a public price list (for example Mistral OCR or Reducto) costs less per document.
A public price list for large volumes
If you want to buy from a published price list without a quote, some vendors publish prices online (for example Parseur, Mindee or LlamaIndex). Data Alchemy works with licences on quote.
Everything inside the ERP, e-invoices only
If you already use TeamSystem or Zucchetti and mainly need bookkeeping and e-invoice reading, the AI features of your own ERP may be enough.
Just a document archive with workflows
If you primarily want a document archive with workflows and approvals, without structured data extraction, a DMS such as DocuWare is the right category.
Building the pipeline yourself
An in-house IT team that wants to build the pipeline itself, choosing and hosting the models, can start from developer tools: Unstract, for example, lets you choose the LLM and build your own extraction flows.
A single suite across dozens of ERPs
Large groups looking for one suite for order-to-cash and source-to-pay across many different ERPs can consider platforms such as Esker, which states integration with over 70 ERPs.
An Italian data centre or on-premise for the whole platform
If processing must take place in a data centre in Italy with an engine other than Data Alchemy AI, or the whole platform must be installed on-premise, some vendors state this: CaptureDocs indicates processing in an Italian data centre and on-premise for enterprise, TypeLens on-premise on request.

How were the competitors chosen?
We grouped vendors into seven categories by type of solution: sales order automation, Italian IDP software, AI built into the ERP, accounts payable, no-code platforms, developer APIs and enterprise suites. We only include vendors whose information we could verify on their official pages. The list is not exhaustive.
Where does the data come from and when is it updated?
Every data point comes from the vendors' official pages, listed below the matrix with the date they were consulted (25 September 2026). For Data Alchemy we only report information published on this website. Products and prices change: always check on the vendor's website and, if you spot an error, write to us from the contact page.
Why are some prices missing?
We only show a figure if it is published on the vendor's official pricing page on the verification date. When the price is on quote or not published, we only give the pricing model, with no estimates.
Does Data Alchemy charge per page or per document?
Per document. Data Alchemy combines a licence (Basic, Business or Enterprise) with pay-as-you-go credits: 1 credit = 1 document, whatever its number of pages. Licences are on quote: we do not publish a price list.
Which AI engine does Data Alchemy use?
You choose one engine per document model: Claude by default, GPT, Data Alchemy AI (the proprietary model, on its own servers and GPUs in Italy) or a compatible model through the European providers Scaleway and Regolo.ai. The 99.8% accuracy is measured with Claude; no figure is published for the other engines.
Where is the data?
The platform is hosted on Scaleway, with the primary site in Milan and a secondary European site. With Data Alchemy AI and the European providers, processing stays in Europe; with Claude and GPT, documents are processed by the respective providers under a DPA. Documents are retained for 7 days on Basic and up to 60 days, configurable per model, on Business and Enterprise.
