AI Agent for Documents: the AI agent that connects Data Alchemy to your ERP
The AI agent is the Data Alchemy component that connects the platform to your systems in both directions: it exposes ERP data to Data Alchemy — for example the master data used by external fields and remote validation — and sends the data extracted from documents to your ERP or CRM. It is installed at your premises, connects to Data Alchemy over websocket and APIs and writes to the destination you configure from a graphical interface: a database, CSV, JSON or TXT files, or APIs. Your ERP credentials stay in your perimeter.
Availability: included in the Enterprise licence, a separately quoted add-on on the Business licence. It is not available on the Basic licence, and therefore not in the Demo either, which is its free trial.
What the AI agent does: two directions, one component
Reading the documents is the job of the AI engine chosen for each document model. The AI agent handles what comes before and after: exchanging data between Data Alchemy and your systems.
From your ERP to Data Alchemy
The agent makes your ERP or CRM data available to Data Alchemy: customer, supplier and item master data, orders. This is the data needed while reading to verify documents with external fields and remote validation — for example retrieving the customer code from the company name or VAT number.
From Data Alchemy to your ERP
Once a document has been read and verified, the agent posts the extracted data into the ERP or CRM — for orders, header and lines — on the configured destination: no copy and paste, no manual data entry.
Reading depends on the document model and on the AI engine chosen for that model; checks against your systems on external fields and remote validation.
How the AI agent works with your ERP
The agent is the data exchange point between Data Alchemy and your systems: it runs at your premises, connects to Data Alchemy and writes to your ERP on the destination the system supports, in both directions.
1. It is installed at your premises and configured
The agent is installed in your infrastructure and connects to Data Alchemy's websocket and APIs. From a graphical interface you configure the destination towards your ERP or CRM: a database, CSV, JSON or TXT files, or APIs.
2. It makes ERP data available
Master data and reference documents — customers, suppliers, items, orders — are looked up through the agent when Data Alchemy needs them while reading, for external fields and remote validation.
3. It receives the extracted, verified data
The document model's AI engine reads the document, the checks compare the data with your ERP and the structured result is ready to be posted.
4. It posts the data into the ERP or CRM
The agent posts the extracted data into your system, including orders with header and lines, via a database, files or APIs: the document becomes a record in your ERP without being retyped.

AI agent architecture: where it runs, how it connects, where credentials live
For your IT team, in short: the AI agent is a component installed in your infrastructure that talks to Data Alchemy on one side and to your software on the other.
Data Alchemy
- AI document reading
- Checks and validation
AI agent
- Graphical configuration interface
- ERP credentials
Your software
- Database
- CSV / JSON / TXT files
- APIs
- Where it runs
- At your premises: the AI agent is installed in your infrastructure, alongside the software it integrates.
- How it connects to Data Alchemy
- It connects to Data Alchemy's websocket and APIs: from there it receives the extracted, verified data and the requests to look up your ERP for the checks made while reading.
- How it integrates with your software
- From a graphical interface you configure the data destination: a database, CSV, JSON or TXT files, or APIs. There are no separate integration channels: databases, files and APIs all go through the agent.
- Where credentials are kept
- Your ERP credentials stay in the AI agent, at your premises: Data Alchemy does not store them in its cloud.
- What it posts
- The data extracted from documents and verified, including orders with header and lines, on the configured destination.
How the AI agent integrates with your systems
Destinations are configured from the agent's graphical interface and there are three, chosen according to what your ERP or CRM supports.
Database
Direct database integration: the agent reads from the ERP the data needed for the checks and writes the extracted data back.
CSV, JSON or TXT files
File exchange in CSV, JSON or TXT format: the destination for ERPs that import and export data through files.
APIs
When the ERP exposes its own APIs, the agent uses them to read master data and post the extracted data.
ERP and CRM
Integrations with SAP, Zucchetti, TeamSystem, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle NetSuite and the Salesforce CRM are described on the integrations page.
The benefits of the AI agent for documents
One component, both directions
The same agent makes ERP data available to Data Alchemy and takes the extracted data back into the ERP: a single integration point, configured from a graphical interface.
Data checked before it reaches the ERP
By making master data and orders available for lookup, the agent lets documents be verified while reading with external fields and remote validation: codes arrive in the ERP already resolved.
Credentials in your perimeter
The agent runs at your premises and your ERP credentials stay there. A database, CSV, JSON or TXT files, or APIs: it uses the destination your ERP or CRM supports, without asking you to change ERP.
No manual data entry
Data extracted from documents enters the ERP or CRM without being retyped: people only deal with flagged documents.

Which licences include the AI agent
The AI agent is a Data Alchemy component that adds to document reading and validation. It is not included in every licence:
Included
With the Enterprise licence the AI agent is included, together with everything in the Business licence, the native Salesforce integration and Order Dispatcher.
Separately quoted add-on
With the Business licence the AI agent is available as a separately quoted add-on, on top of the Mail service, external fields and remote validation already included.
Not available
The Basic licence covers document reading with pay-as-you-go credits; the AI agent is not available and integration goes through the REST API and webhooks, which are included. To use the agent you need the Business licence (with the add-on) or Enterprise.
Not included
The Demo, the trial Basic licence, lets you try reading your documents for 10 days with 1 model chosen from the predefined ones, in a dedicated environment: the AI agent is not included.
Compare the licences on the pricing and licences page or request a quote for the Business licence with the AI agent add-on or for the Enterprise licence.
The AI agent and the other Data Alchemy features
The AI agent works together with the other features: the document model defines what to read, the AI engine chosen for the model reads the document, external fields and remote validation verify it against ERP data looked up through the agent, and the agent posts the result into your ERP.
- External fieldsThe document compared with the data it refers to, such as the purchase order quoted on a delivery note.
- Remote validationItem codes checked and customer or supplier code retrieved from the company name or VAT number.
- Document models and marketplaceThe field structure and reading instructions, editable by you.
- AI enginesClaude, GPT, the European providers Scaleway and Regolo.ai or Data Alchemy AI: one engine per model.
