Updated September 2026

If you are looking for Italian IDP software, or an Italian AI OCR for invoices, delivery notes (DDT) and orders, you will find vendors with very different approaches: supply chain products, accounts payable solutions with archiving, platforms for banks and insurers, bespoke projects. Here are seven intelligent document processing solutions based in Italy, compared against the same criteria and with official sources.

Information based on public data available on 25 September 2026, taken from the vendors' official pages listed below. Products and prices can change: always check on the vendor's website. Why an Italian IDP

Why look for Italian IDP software

Italian companies' documents have some specific features. They are not a reason to rule out international vendors, but they are the questions to ask any vendor.

Italian language and fields

VAT numbers, tax codes, VAT rates and exemption codes, payment reasons, trade abbreviations: the model must recognise them and return them in the format the ERP expects.

FatturaPA and XML SdI

Italian e-invoices go through the Exchange System (SdI) in FatturaPA XML format. The platform should handle them as structured data, alongside the PDFs and scans of other documents.

Delivery notes (DDT)

The DDT travels with the goods and must be matched with orders and invoices. It often runs to several pages, is scanned or comes in a different layout for each supplier: this is why line recognition and the pricing unit matter.

Italian ERPs

Zucchetti, TeamSystem, Mexal, Passepartout and the other ERPs widespread among SMEs: the connector to your ERP decides how much work is left after extraction.

If your company runs on international ERPs and handles documents in many languages, international vendors can also be the right choice: you will find them in the comparison hub. All comparisons →

How to choose

How to choose Italian IDP software

Six questions to ask each vendor, with your real documents to hand.

Which documents does it read?

Supplier invoices, FatturaPA, delivery notes, customer orders, contracts, price lists, identity documents: each vendor has its own scope. Start from the three documents that weigh most in your office.

Is there a connector for my ERP?

Look for the exact name of your ERP in the matrix. "Integration with the ERP" with no names usually means a dedicated project.

Does it validate data against my master data?

Checking customers, suppliers and products before posting reduces downstream corrections. Ask how it works and against which data.

Where are emails read?

If documents arrive by email, ask whether mailboxes are read in the vendor's cloud or by a service installed at your premises, and where the credentials stay.

Where is data hosted and processed?

Hosting, processing region, AI engine and on-premise options vary from vendor to vendor: compare them with your company's requirements.

How do you pay and how do you try it?

Per page or per document, on quote or from a price list. To try: Retica offers a free trial, CaptureDocs a 30-day proof of concept, TypeLens a free demo; for Data Alchemy the Demo (a trial Basic licence) is available soon.

An honest comparison

When Data Alchemy isn't the right fit

Some requirements point towards other vendors on this page. Better to know before you start.

Processing in Italy with any engine, or on-premise

With Data Alchemy, processing in Italy applies to Data Alchemy AI, the proprietary model on its own servers and GPUs in Italy. If the requirement covers any engine, or the whole platform must be installed on-premise, CaptureDocs states an Italian data centre and on-premise for enterprise, TypeLens on-premise on request.

Banks, insurers and utilities

For a vertical focus on bills, payslips and identity documents in banks, insurers and utilities, myBiros concentrates on exactly these sectors.

A bespoke project with a system integrator

If you prefer a solution configured as a project by a system integrator rather than a licensed platform, Dataskills offers this approach for order automation.

Archiving and preservation from the same vendor

If you want accounts payable, document management and digital preservation from a single vendor, eDOK with HyperDok covers this scope.

Does Data Alchemy read FatturaPA and delivery notes?

Yes. Data Alchemy reads invoices, including FatturaPA/XML SdI e-invoices, delivery notes, orders, contracts and price lists, and writes the validated data into the ERP. You choose one engine per document model: Claude by default, GPT, Data Alchemy AI (the proprietary model, on its own servers and GPUs in Italy) or a compatible model through the European providers Scaleway and Regolo.ai.

How much does Italian IDP software cost?

The vendors on this page do not publish a price list on the pages consulted: pricing is on quote. Data Alchemy combines a licence (Basic, Business or Enterprise) with pay-as-you-go credits, where 1 credit = 1 document whatever its number of pages, with a quote on request.
